Congratulations on the completion of your epic cycle from the West Coast to the East Coast of America.

Another act of kindness or two. The same act but two different occasions. So I have been out and about recently reflecting and enjoying some of the nice scenic places around the area I live. Over the last two nights I have come across someone who has been out on walks with their dog and has lost them.

Two nights ago a kid was chasing after his young German Shepherd but was running tired and unable to keep up. I clocked onto what was going on and as it ran not too far by me I decided to chase it too. After a short while I managed to grab the dogs collar and bring her back to her owner.

Then against last night I was out wandering about and came across a lovely more elderly couple who were taking their dog out for a walk but she wasn’t coming back to their calls. It was a very large open area with many bushes and places to hide. I asked my friends to spread out to look for the dog and we heard the bells on its collar in a bush, I asked my friend to go one way whilst I went round to the place that the dog would most likely run out due to it being the only other opening. Fortunately as expected the dog came running out and I was there to catch her. Took the dog back back to her family who were very happy to have her back.

My friend at uni needed a song recorded and produced for a film he’s taking part in, and he knew I had access to some good studio facilities. I gave around 10 hours to recording him, and making him sound as pretty as possible, because it’s nice to help out a friend! Also gained a little good experience for myself in the music industry.

A small piece - baked a batch of cookies to share with my team tomorrow after busy start to the week, hopefully that will put some smiles on their faces😊

Hello N & J- There have been many small moments and a few larger ones since you were here at our home in AZ when I've 'committed' an act of kindness. Please know that meeting you both has changed us in a small way. I will pledge to be kinder, help others and be more aware of those in need going forward. I am so happy for you both- completing the monumental task of cycling coast to coast in America. Be well, celebrate this moment and we'll continue to follow your efforts to spread kindness in the world!!!

I have been meaning to write this for a while as myself and my boys have been truly inspired by your efforts! We have all been trying to do the little things so here are a few of the things we have done:

Making time for a cuppa with someone who was clearly having a bad time.

Volunteering to help our local scout group on a regular basis.

Donating toys and clothes to charity.

Welcoming and making an extra effort to look after a new starter in school.

Putting the bin out for a neighbour who had gone out and forgotten to do it.

It's not just been one way traffic on the kindness front though - in particular the lovely lady who took my son swimming so I could attend a school meeting and the neighbour who fixed my fence stand out in my mind!

Keep up the good work, we have a couple of kind things in the pipeline and will continue to do our bit!

Hi Laura, it doesn’t seem like much after all the effort you have put in cycling across America, but several things happened in one day. So I cleared out my own and my daughter’s wardrobe to give to the local charity helping a local community centre. Then I noticed litter along the road in front of where I lived so I picked that’s up.

Then I went to pick up wood from a local scaffolding company that sell off cuts of scaffolding board as, as they explained, they cannot bear the thought of sending it to landfill. After talking to the manager a little longer, I found that the money they sell the off cuts for gets put in to a pot and given to charity, so they don’t keep the money. Having heard that, I gave him more money to put in to the pot. I love it when a business thinks ethically to solve little problem!

On a recent hospital visit I helped the ward nurse change a patients bed at the end of her long shift and gave her a box of chocolates to take home x

Since you guys started your awesome adventure, I have had kindness on the front of my mind. I have been trying to do a little, kind act every day. A few examples; I have helped a woman with a buggy down some stairs in an underground station, bought food for a homeless man, donated money to charity, helped a old man carry his bags. As well as held quite a few doors open, given up my seat on the tube multiple times and much more. What surprised me is how much of a difference those little acts of kindness can do! I didn’t expect how grateful some people were, especially just to be given a seat on the tube. I think it’s a nice reminder that you can never sure what people are going through. A chair to you, could be a throne to them.

You two are cycling/editing your butts off for acts of kindness, it’s amazing to watch your journey and see the highs, the lows, and all the Walmarts in between. Not far to go now, keep on peddling!

Hello Nahla and Jason!

This act of kindness is a little late but worth putting up!! Recently, a family I babysit for have had a baby, and for around the last month of the pregnancy I was on call to look after their other two girls when the baby came! Over their Easter half term I helped as much as I could, and got the two girls some Easter eggs wrote a card for them all, as I knew how busy the house would be with a newborn and two little ones! What prompted me to post this was their appreciation for just getting the girls the eggs, they were overly thankful and surprised - and also very tired..! Last week when I was babysitting for them again, I received lovely a card with a picture of the three girls on it, to say thank you. It really is the small things that make people happy and yourself happy too!

I've encountered several homeless people at Wal-Mart lately; I always ask if they need anything and try to get it for them. A couple of them I've been able to connect to resources that will help them further. But today I decided to make up a little "care package inventory" to keep in my car of things people often need - and their pets! I got treats for a homeless couple's dog and will also take some treats (and love!) to the lonely homeless animals in our local shelters. Thank you for being such an incredible blessing and inspiration!

A small act of kindness today as I was walking in the skyway. I saw a homeless young man sitting in the window with a sign. I went to the Jimmy John's and purchased a gift card to give him along with a wish for God's blessing when I gave it to him.

My first of what i plan to be at least a few acts of kindness. It’s a small one to start with.

So i was working late the other night, after a 12 hour day I was shattered and just packing up to go home. Being the last one on the premises I was the first point of call for a security guard advising of a car transporter driver which had just arrived on site, did not know the layout of the yard and was struggling to find the vehicles for their load. The security guard was working their first shift so they did not know the yard either and was panicking as this was part of their job. Despite personally having no idea of the yard layout yet either I decided to try my very best to help out, after working it out I advised the driver of the layout and how to find the vehicles. The driver then expressed their concern about the time it takes to move the vehicles from all around the yard and that they had hoped to be heading home after a long day.

With kindness in mind I thought It would be nice of me to help out. I moved their allocated vehicles to the back of the drivers truck saving them a couple of hours allowing the driver to finish their working day much earlier than what would have been.

Once the driver had completely loaded the transporter and left the compound. I decided to go over to the security hut and asked the security guard if they would like a tour around to compound and a summary of how to locate vehicles for future reference and to save them getting in trouble in future.

A simple act of kindness which saved two strangers a lot of stress and hassle.

P.S. Nahla you are absolutely smashing it! I know it has its difficulties but you are a ray of sunshine bringing hope and inspiration to all of the people you meet and interact with throughout your truly selfless and amazing journey.

Today I have finished my contribution to the Flourish Flock which is a flock of rare Dartford Warblers that will be auctioned to raise money for the Flourish project at Livability Holton Lee in Poole, Dorset. This is a centre for disabled and those with learning difficulties and their families to spend time taking part in a range of activities from growing vegetables to being creative with art and crafts. There will be 100 Dartford Warblers in the Flourish Flock: 50 decorated by those who take part in the Flourish project and 50 by local artists and some 'celebrities'. Here's mine ... I'm sending it off in the morning and hoping it will raise mega bucks for the cause. This post is dedicated to Sofia. xx

Catching up on acts of kindness, too.

I spent the morning working at the MDAnderson Cancer Center. I have pledged to work Tuesday mornings there. My job is to serve refreshments and lunch to the patients undergoing chemo infusion. Today there were 3 BRAND NEW patients in an otherwise slow-ish day. Oh, I hate it when we get new patients- it means the the C word is attacking more people!! Ugh- We did have one person who was ready to ring the bell. This is a symbolic event where the patient that is finishing their course of chemo reads a very moving poem and rings a large bell. There are usually tears, lots of hugs and smiles, too.

I am doing this to pay back the amazing people- Drs, nurses, volunteers that served Gary and I 2 years ago. I vowed that when I could, I would return the favor- lots of kindness happens there!!!

As an act of kindness- I passed a lone cyclist on the highway into Apache Junction a few days ago. I paused, then turned around an caught her along the road. I stopped and we had a nice chat. She is coming from Florida- headed for San Diego- then north to her home in Portland Oregon. She's traveling alone!! I asked her what her travel plans were, and assisted her with a route to her friends home about 50 miles away= safer route for cyles and a bit shorter. I'm now following her via her emails. I doubt that I would have stopped prior to meeting you and learning of your kindness challenge.

Took the canteen ladies a box of scrummy chocolates for their tea break on Easter Thursday. Think its safe to say they were chuffed. :) They always have a smile and a chat with everyone and really brighten up my day, (also gave the Receptionists Easter eggs just because).

The company collected a huge number of Easter eggs to donate to local charities; they had so many they delivered them in two batches!
